Documentation and Portfolio
Application Form
There is an Application
Form that is submitted when you formally request to be entered
into the PLA program. This has the usual personal information and
also informs the College about the program for which you wish to
receive credits through PLA.
PLA Plan
When you are ready to submit your documentation, you will use the
PLA Plan. This form
outlines the courses in the program that you are challenging. On
it, you will show which courses you will provide supporting documentation
and which courses you would like to write a "Challenge" exam.
Supporting Documentation & Portfolio
When you submit the PLA
Plan, you will attach the supporting documentation to demonstrate
that you have acquired the skills and knowledge contained in each
course
If you are providing transcripts of courses taken elsewhere, attaching
exams, assignments, notes and the detailed course outline would
all be helpful in determining the equivalency status of the courses
involved.
If you are demonstrating life skills that match the objectives
of a course, take a list of the objectives as given to you and show
how you acquired each. Attach sample work, computer screen captures,
letters of reference, work descriptions signed by your current or
past managers, etc.
If you are unable to provide documentation, you may arrange with
the PLA Center to submit a report, a case study, or to do a practical
assignment or demonstration with a PLA Team member. You might also
arrange to receive an oral exam or interview with a subject expert.
At anytime, the PLA Center may request that you provide further
proof, or ask you to do one of the above supplemental supporting
activities.
Note: All documents remain the property of the applicant and
will be returned at the end of the PLA Process.
