SUBJECT: Ottawa's Local IT Training Institute - Willis College has now secured an opportunity for Aboriginal People to train in Technology through the " Joseph T. Norton Scholarship".

I would like to bring to your attention, a local hero of mine.

Rima Aristocrat, president of Willis College of Business and Technology, will announce the creation of a special scholarship named after Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton. The Joseph T.Norton scholarship is available for Aboriginal students to pursue information technology and business studies at Willis.

The Joseph T.Norton scholarship is worth $18,000 per annum. Aboriginal, Inuit, and Metis students may apply directly to Willis for consideration. Willis is located in Ottawa's business core.

The Norton scholarship will be officially announced by Willis at its graduation ceremony held this Saturday, September 8, 2001, at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier Hotel in Ottawa. The graduation ceremony commences at 5:45pm.

The Federal Government and the Assemble of First Nations have officially committed to look at the issue of connecting via technology all First Nations. Donna Cona, Canada's leading Aboriginal Technology company is committed to hiring Aboriginal people trained in technology. This scholarship will assist many Aboriginal people to pursue their dreams in the field of technology and provide an opportunity for a company like Donna Cona to hire these individuals.
