Rima Aristocrat, president of Willis College of Business and Technology, announced the creation of a special scholarship named after Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton. The Joseph T.Norton scholarship is available for Aboriginal students to pursue information technology and business studies at Willis.
Joseph Tokwiro Norton is the Grand Chief of the Mohawk Community of Kahnawake located just across the river from Montreal, Quebec. Mr. Norton has been a Mohawk Council Chief in Kahnawake for 23 years and has been involved in special education for the last 15 years.
Willis College, a leader in the private education industry located in Ottawa
for the past 105 years and setting an unprecedented record in North America
with e-business and Information Technology training.
The Joseph T.Norton scholarship is worth $18,000 per annum. Aboriginal, Inuit,
and Metis students may apply directly to Willis for consideration. Willis is
located in Ottawa's business core.
"When we decided on the Joseph T. Norton Scholarship, I could not think of another person that has been so dedicated to Aboriginal People and their issues than Grand Chief Joseph Norton." Said Rima Aristocrat.
The Norton scholarship will be officially announced by Willis, at its graduation ceremony held this Saturday, September 8, 2001, at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier Hotel in Ottawa. The graduation ceremony commences at 5:45 p.m.
