Chinese Teachers of E-Commerce Anxious to Get Upper Hand on Latest Technology

OTTAWA, Ontario - April 21, 2004 - Ottawa-based Willis College of Business & Technology is known for their contributions and for their ability to fulfill the needs of other companies and now, in cooperation with the Shanghai Vocational Training Center is offering a special 20-day training program designed for teachers of e-Commerce. This special event is running from April 1 to April 29, 2004 and is presented by John Mihailov and Peter MacKinnon of Ottawa with China317.com of Shanghai, China.
This new teaching program strives to meet workforce demands of the new digital economy emerging in China. The twenty courses in this unusual training series provides over 160 hours of quality, interactive training in both basic and advanced e-Commerce. Local teachers receive an in-depth exploration of e-Commerce business models, cutting-edge technical tools and jointly explore governance challenges. In addition, both teachers and instructors are collaborating to design new teaching methods to bring the latest e-Commerce strategies to a growing community of e-Commerce workers in one of the world's fast growing economies.
The program has received an enthusiastic and favorable response from participants. It represents a new and exciting advance in collaborative e-Commerce development between China and Canada. By providing technology skills to Shanghai e-Commerce teachers, this unique program represents an unusual and exciting opportunity for Canadian industry experts to connect with like-minded academic professionals in China.
Willis College, in collaboration with Ottawa-based e-Commerce experts, prepared and delivered the program. Mr. Mihailov and Mr. Peter MacKinnon bring extensive e-commerce experience in both industry and government.
John Mihailov is the Founder and Chief Technical Officer of Rogue Data Corporation, a Kanata-based company. John is a former senior consultant to the United Nations Development Program and Chief of Information Management in the Canadian International Development Agency and brings to the table thirteen years of national and international experience in workflow automation.
Peter MacKinnon's career spans a wide range of experiences including: scientist, entrepreneur, bureaucrat, business executive, diplomat, and management consultant. Mr. MacKinnon has been seconded twice to the Government of Canada and served with the Ministry of State for Science and Technology as Special Advisor for advanced information technologies.
