Driving Force behind Willis College Success!

University of Winnipeg Goes to Ottawa

“University of Winnipeg Division of Continuing Education delivers Management Certificate Program to students of Willis College ”

Dr. Kathryn Shailer-Hanson, Dean of Continuing Education at the University of Winnipeg is pleased to announce a unique partnership with Ottawa's Willis College of Business & Technology. This partnership will make Willis College the first institute in the Ottawa area to combine an accredited university-level Management Certificate Program with its IT career programs.

The collaboration also represents the University of Winnipeg's first inter-provincial partnership involving a Continuing Education program delivered in another province. Willis College graduates of the Management Certificate Program will receive two unallocated credits in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Winnipeg.

The Management Certificate Program is designed to provide individuals with the essential business and communication skills required in today's workplace. "The ability of individuals and companies to compete and thrive in our modern knowledge based economy depends on current knowledge and skills. Successful individuals combine strong technical and business competencies with excellent communication skills," notes Shailer-Hanson.

Increasingly, universities and high-tech training organizations are forming partnerships to complement each other's areas of expertise. Both the University of Winnipeg and Willis College of Business & Technology have strong records of assisting businesses and industry with their workforce development needs. The synergy created by this partnership will greatly benefit the IT community.

"Our partnership with the University of Winnipeg occurred because of our shared vision, values, and ethics," comments Rima Aristocrat, President and CEO of Willis College. "As an institution with a 104 year history of providing quality training and education we are very selective about whom we partner with. It is good to find another institution that is as committed to quality training and education as we are."
